We have all had a car that has tailgated us, someone who has honked at us, or have seen a vehicle that has been demonstrating some really bad driving habits. All of those situations can lead to someone getting angry or upset.

Road Rage is the cause of many injuries and, in some cases, death. All of us are in a hurry to get from point A to point B. Do we always leave ourselves enough time to get there safely? The answer is NO. At that point, anyone who gets in our way, is moving a little slower , or just plain makes a mistake, can lead to getting us annoyed, irritated and tense.

All of us think that we drive the best, and some of us do not have patience for other fellow drivers. This can lead to the average driver taking chances that really are not safe, really not necessary and has the great potential to do harm not only to ourselves, but to others.

Road rage can be just as dangerous as bad driving. Do not let yourself get annoyed or impatient while driving.

Here are a couple of tips to help you avoid it:

1. Drive sensibly and within the legal limits
2. Don’t tailgate others
3. Signal well in advance when you are turning in
4. Check your blind spot when switching lanes
5. If you are being tailgated, and there’s an opportunity to pull over, do so. Just make sure it is safe to pull over first.
6. If you feel shaken by someone else’s behavior, pull off the road and relax for a few minutes
