I don’t know of anyone who would not want to save on their car insurance! So how do you do it?

We now have two insurance companies that are offering a new service called Telematics, also known as Usage Based Insurance, that can help you save on your insurance based on your driving habits. All you need in order to sign up is a valid email address.

How does it work?

If you are writing a new policy with Pembridge or Intact or if you are coming up for renewal, you just give us your email and we can sign you up. Just for enrolling, you will receive a 10-15% discount on your insurance immediately.

You will get a device in the mail that you need to install in your car. It is very simple and easy to install. Just plug it into the OBD port in your vehicle (the diagnostics port).
Once you install the device, you will receive an email giving you access to the website or app to find out how you are doing. You will be able to see what you have for a discount at any time while you have the device installed so if you start out low, you can always improve. Your discount, up to 25% with Intact and up to 30% with Pembridge, will be applied to your next renewal.

What do they look for?

Your discount is based on a few simple criteria:

Intact:
• Hard breaking
• Rapid acceleration
• Time of day you drive

Pembridge:
• Low mileage
• Speed at which you drive
• Time of day you drive
• Hard breaking

Your rates will never increase due to using this device and neither company tracks your whereabouts or location at any time.
